Mountaineering expeditions
All our multi-day packages are mountaineering expeditions that range between 8 and 11 days. During this time you will experience real remote wilderness into the most stunning areas that East Greenland has to offer. As mountaineers we want to go into the mountains light enough to be able to carry all necessary in our backpack and be able to move camp if needed to summit a peak or simply to explore different areas. So our philosophy is to travel light, use the boat to reach the destination and then our feet will do the rest. In this way we feel more linked to the environment and the experience will be more meaningful.
Because of the our choice to guide you into the mountains and across glaciated terrain our maximum number of guest per guide is 6. This small number will guarantee a better quality trip and a safer environment to be able to offer what we really want. Our main objective is to give you an unforgettable experience in a real untouched ground, surrounded by unnamed mountains, where it we would be really rare to meet anyone else until the boat driver will come back to pick us up.
Our 4 mountaineering expeditions differ in level or duration. We simply rate the difficulty with a scale up to 5, where 5 will be the most challenging. A common requirement would be to have general fitness, some experience in trekking and backpacking, be able to carry a backpack of 10 kg for 6 hours and make 1000 meters elevation in one day.
For our most technical expedition, the Nunatak first ascents, the ratio with the guide is down to 1:3 because we want to be able to scramble and climb some parts to be able to reach the summits. So for this specific trip we will climb peaks with a difficulty of maximum AD - D (French Alpine Grade) but no rope or climbing experience is needed.
Please don't hesitate to contact us for further information about level or requirements.
